More on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®
Our typical approach to using the form is to administer the indicator in advance. Participants can complete the survey in English, French, German, Portuguese, Chinese, Spanish, or several other languages with prior notification. You can complete it with a pencil in hand or on line if you are more comfortable with a keyboard. Our consultants will bring the individual, confidential results with them to a session which is, as a minimum, a half-day long, but more typically a full day or two in length. During the session, participants will engage in interactive learning about the history, background, theory, and application of the indicator. Participants will have the chance to learn about the 8 individual preferences captured by the form and to validate their individual choices made when completing the instrument.
Each participant receives a Report Form indicating her or his choices as well as a discussion of the relative clarity of each preference. Participants also receive extensive write-ups (6-8 pages) on their chosen type, a copy of an ESI (Executive Strategies International, Inc.) pamphlet entitled “MBTI® Background Material,” and a copy of Still True To Type, by William Jeffries. Advanced sessions on psychological type steep participants in Jungian psychology as we explore the implications of the Dominant, Auxiliary, Tertiary, and Inferior functions of our types. We spend time discussing “good type development” and the implications of our types on effective problem solving, leadership, organizational change, and personal and organizational High Performance.
Should participants complete the indicator in a language other than English, we offer both introductory and advanced type training sessions in Spanish, French, and German.
Train-the-Trainer sessions for type practitioners are also available for any level of expertise. We offer sessions from one to three days in duration to take your skills to new levels of expertise within your organization. No organization in the world has more cross cultural experience than ESI using the indicator, and our data bank is larger by a factor of ten than either the publisher of the form or CAPT at the University of Florida. In short, we are your premier resource for Type training and research worldwide.
